Nobody did anything wrong…

In the latest scandalous developments from our current Presidential administration (it’s important to note the latest since so much comes so fast these days), we learn that nearly five million email messages have now gone missing. Normally that might be a nuisance but once the missing messages become the focus of an intense search for a smoking gun — maybe even a room full of them — it’s a problem. Of course, Dana Perino, the whitehouse’s spokeswoman, was right out in front saying that nothing’s amiss and nobody has done anything wrong.

Seems to me this is a pretty clear violation of the Presidential Records Act, which requires the whitehouse to keep complete details on all whitehouse business. I’m sure there’s a signing statement somewhere, though, that explains it all away…

This isn’t to say the administration hasn’t divulged any information of course (that would be too blatant). A large volume of emails and memos have already been produced — in their full, redacted glory. On Keith Olbermann’s Countdown I even got to see one — a two page email in which everything except the subject line had been blacked out.
