See you Intel

I think codepoet said it quite succinctly.

Well, fuck.

So there you have it. Apple has announced, in Steve’s keynote at the WWDC, that they’ll support Intel hardware.

I have to admit I’m very surprised, though I’m not sure why. “Back in the day,” I worked on NEXTSTEP on Intel processors and it was just fine. In fact, it was great. So, uh, congratulations to Apple, I think, on a move that, hopefully, leads to lower costs, faster machines and fewer obstacles to market domination.

As a Mac user, I know Apple will keep on producing gorgeous, wonderful systems — the processor inside doesn’t really impact my faith. And with luck maybe this means I’ll be able to use VMware again (it’s much better than VirtualPC).
