Blogging from OS/X

Well, this is just amazing. I’ve been wanting to set up a whole lot of services for play time — a personal blog, a new web site (as my old one is, well, old), an improved mail server. I’ve just been putting it off for the past year or two. Do you realize how much work all that is? I mean, if you want to start from scratch and get something really nice set up?

I haven’t hacked a Linux kernel is years, and frankly setting up a brand new Apache server, deciding on weblog software, getting the latest mail server — all of that is going to take days, right? Weeks maybe, when it comes right down to it…

Or, of course, you can do what I did. :-) Get a copy of Mac OS/X Server. Click the pretty buttons and away you go. It took me about an hour to install OS/X server and turn on all of the above services.

Converting “back to Mac” was the best thing I’ve done in years. I’m actually enjoying my time in front of a computer again!
